You can do as much in six days as you can in seven.  The Lord Almighty, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, created the universe in only six days.  He considered the six day work week so important that he made it one of the top ten rules.  If we try to work every day, and never take a break, what happens to us?  We lose energy.  We lose creativity.  We lose our pleasant disposition.  We lose interest.  We move slower, and what we get done, we have to redo, because we make mistakes.  You can do as much in six days as you can in seven.

It is our relationship with Jesus that makes it possible for us to get as much done in six days as in seven.  There are some good reasons why we might want to work every day, on occasion, but there are more bad reasons.  The bad reasons are that we are trying to justify ourselves by our work, or that we fear someone somewhere might be getting ahead of us.  There is nothing wrong with working hard, but it is not hard work that justifies our existence.  It is the love of God in Jesus Christ that justifies our existence.

In our sermon this Sunday, we continue our series, “How to Get More Time” with a message, “You can do as much in six days as you can in seven.”
