There is no point in doing well in this life if everyone around you is doing poorly.  There is no point having a bright future if the rest of the world is falling apart.  Fortunately, there is good news.  There is hope for the world.

The Bible tells us that the creation is subject to futility.  That is a theological way of saying that the entire universe has problems.  The universe can’t not have problems, to employ a double negative.  The bad decisions that people have made and their disobedience to God has not only caused us harm, they have caused harm to the whole world.  The whole creation is subject to death and decay.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth by bringing order out of chaos.  Now the whole universe is unravelling.  Futility, the Bible says.

Yet there is hope.  People brought trouble into the world.  People are the solution to the trouble.  Men and women who turn back to God through Jesus Christ are the hope of the world.  One changed life at a time, one transformed person after another, is how the world will be saved.

In our sermon this Sunday, we will talk about how there is hope for the world.
