We all want to be loved. If we don’t believe we are loved, we make poor choices and cause ourselves harm. Some people know they are loved. The rest of us, at least some of the time, are waiting to be loved.
God loves you. Long before any person ever hurt you or left you or let you down, God loved you. The Bible says, “God so loved the world.” That means all of us, and it means each of us. God made us, God rescues us, God judges us, but more than anything, God loves us. Maybe you are waiting for someone to come along and love you. Or maybe you are waiting for the person who loves you to do a better job of it. Whatever your situation, you are not unloved. God loves you.
God loves you and wants to save you. God wants you to be happy. God wants you to be healthy. God wants you to have a future. God didn’t send his Son into the world to tell us how bad we are. God sent his Son into the world to save us. God sent his Son to convince us that he loves us. We all have our own love language, our own ways of expressing love and feeling loved. God’s apparently thought that he was speaking our love language when he sent his Son. God sent his Son to save us.
It is extremely important to know you are loved. If you don’t believe you are loved, your life is never going to come out right. If you don’t believe you are loved, you are always going to have problems. You want better than that. You don’t want to be a hurting, bitter, struggling, person. You want to believe you are loved. Believe that the God of the Universe sent his Son to live our life, to die our death, and to be raised back to life for our sake. Believe in Jesus Christ and know that you are loved. We may claim that we are waiting to be loved, but that is not entirely accurate. We are already loved. We always have been. What we are doing is waiting to realize that we are already loved. The surprise of Christmas is that we discover what has been all along. You are loved.
