It is difficult to talk about the things most important to you.  Even with your family.  Especially with your family.  Thus it can be very hard to share Jesus with your family.  Let me give you three reasons why you should.

First, your family is your first spiritual responsibility.  The church can help, Sunday school can help, vacation Bible school can help, but you can’t outsource it all.  Different families address spiritual issues in a variety of ways, but you can’t escape that your family is your first spiritual responsibility.

Second, you are best positioned to know what the members of your family are looking for.  The key to successful evangelism is to answer the questions that people are really asking and addressing the needs that people really have.  You know, or should know, the questions and needs of your family better than anyone outside your family.  You can share Jesus with them because you understand what they are looking for.

Third, you understand that it is not about you.  You won’t share Jesus with your family because you like to be right, or because you want to feel important, or because you are a new convert so excited that you are insensitive to what someone else sees.  You will share Jesus with your family for the right reason.  You understand that it is not about you.

In our sermon this Sunday, we will look at the Bible story about the brothers Andrew and Simon and discuss how to share Jesus with your family.
